The Milton Film Festival is proud to be showcasing a juried selection of short films from film makers in Milton, Halton, the GTHA and beyond. These 'shorts' will be presented before our feature films.

Feature tickets include the short film, and are available through the Milton Centre for the Arts box office

Exhibiting these films at the Milton Film Festival provides opportunities for the general public to see a variety of films which may not receive mass distribution, and for independent filmmakers to reach new audiences and explore new opportunities for distribution.

SPOTLIGHT ON MILTON FILMMAKERS:


PRINT UNDER PRESSURE

Dir: Emily Preston

Emily is a young filmmaker from Milton, currently studying at Ryerson University. Print Under Pressure is a documentary short about the unique craft of letterpress printing inspired by her father, Simon Preston who has been a printer for over thirty years.


#TECHNOLOGY

Dir: Amanda Wilton & Samantha Kelly

Based on the idea of modern day technological concepts being used on older forms of technology or its equivalents. The film uses comedic interpretations through multiple vignettes to highlight the exponential changes in technology and its applications.

BY KIDS, FOR KIDS:


BAMBOOZLED

Dir: Mike Martins

A group of students decide to pull a con game at school. But who is conning who? This film was made by and with the students in the Grade 8 Film Club at Divine Mercy School in Mississauga. The students comprised both the cast and crew of the production.

GREAT CANADIAN SHORTS:


A MILE IN THESE HOOVES

Dir: James Brylowski

Mark and Tom walk from Toronto to LA in a 2-person donkey costume, competing for the title 'longest distance travelled in a 2-person costume. A story about love, friendship, and a burlap donkey.


RELIGATIO

Dir: Jaime Giraldo

Beings who live in a world hanging from ropes are all engaged in a struggle to avoid falling into the void below. Produced at the Vancouver Film School, Religatio is Jaime's most recent animation. He is currently living in Newfoundland.


RUNNING BY

Dir: Bryce Gamache

Running By follows a boy named Ethan. Born into a traditional farming family, he is expected to eventually take over the farm. Ethan is now faced with trying to live out his passion for running before this happens. The film was produced at the University of Regina and has played at six other film festivals.
