An old duck hunter reflects on the past while finding his place in the future.
‘Reminiscing’ is a short film adapted from a poem by Norris Pyette. Norris both narrates and stars as the Old Duck Hunter in this adaptation. Filmmakers Luke Grandmont and Dallas Varcoe teamed up to tell this story, filming in the Fall of 2017 in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. The short premiered at the 20th Shadows of the Mind Film Festival in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario in 2019 and won 2nd place at the Short Shorts Film Festival in Duluth, Minnesota.

About the Filmmakers:
Luke Grandmont holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English (Laurentian University) as well as a Film Production diploma from Confederation College. He splits his year across the province of Ontario for various commercial and personal filmmaking projects. His previous films, The Maltese Guinea Pig and The Last Straw have screened in international festivals around the globe. Between directorial efforts, Luke works as a camera assistant, most recently on DC Universe’s, Titans, and CBC Television’s, Kim’s Convenience.
Dallas Varcoe is a writer, props master, and now, director. Dallas’s short script for Aviliaq: Entwined tells the story of two Inuit lesbians struggling to stay together in a new world run by outsider, screened at the imageNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival. Dallas is also an experienced props master in television, with credits including Suits, Killjoys, and HBO’s Jett.
