Brigsby Bear is the favorite show of 25-year-old James Pope (Kyle Mooney, Saturday Night Live), who lives with his parents, Ted (Mark Hamill, Star Wars) and April (Jane Adams), in an underground bunker. But when the FBI raid the bunker, James finds out that he was kidnapped at birth and that his ‘father’ created Brigsby Bear for his eyes only.
James is returned to his birth parents (Matt Walsh, Michaela Watkins) and reintegrated into society, but finds the harsh world more difficult to deal with than the sheltered life he led with Brigsby. Feeling lost and overwhelmed, James decides he will resurrect the Brigsby character with the help of his teenaged sister Aubrey (Ryan Simpkins) his new friend Spencer (Jorge Lendeborg Jr.), and the kind-hearted cop who rescued him (Greg Kinnear).
A unique, funny, and surprisingly touching film about friendship and creativity.
