ENGLISH VINGLISH

ENGLISH VINGLISH is the story of Shashi, a woman who is made to feel insecure by her family and Indian society at large because she does not speak English. When she travels to New York to prepare her niece's wedding, she is determined to overcome this insecurity, master the language, and teach the world a lesson on the way to becoming a self assured and confident woman.

Shot mostly in New York City, English Vinglish is a light-hearted yet touching and transformational film which marks the triumphant comeback of Sridevi, India's biggest female star, after a fifteen year absence from the screen. The film premiered at TIFF in 2012 at Roy Thompson Hall to a packed crowd and standing ovations.
